Under the Bridge

As a kid I constantly found myself alone by the water. My dad, a full time surfer, would leave me on the burning sand as he rode the clean breaks off Brunswick Heads. I would wait for hours for his return. Sometimes I ventured down to the black Simpson River, and, if the tide was right, I would jump off the bridge with other local strays.
