June 2011

Egypt

Text by Bridget Ferguson

During the Egyptian winter, QCA photography students stood in awe before the great pyramids of the Giza plateau. Over three weeks the students documented the strange and intriguing Egyptian lifestyle from Cairo to Alexandria, Dehab, Luxor, Abu Simble and beyond. This voyeuristic series explores the country’s vast terrain from desert to ocean and back again. Photography lecturer, Peter Wanny guided student photographers, Bridget Ferguson, Ellie Webb, Asha Andrado, Sarah Oxenham, Elise Hilder, Leanne Butterly and Steve Blacckburn throughout the journey. The sandy landscapes, camel backs and Nile waters present a subtle and comprehensive view to a past ancient culture in a modern time.
